DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH/CHURCH OF CHRIST

Although Havendale Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational, Bible believing church, we are part of a larger movement known as the Restoration Movement. It was the dream of the early leaders in the Restoration Movement to Restore New Testament Christianity.

We still have this goal here at HCC. Above all we are followers of Jesus who we believe was and is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Havendale Christian has no outside authority governing it other than the truths that are found in the Word of God, the Bible. We do join with other independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ in the supporting of Para-church organizations such as camps, colleges, missions, etc. to help fulfill evangelism and ministry needs in our world.

What do we believe about salvation?

We believe we are saved by the grace of Jesus, not by works lest any man should boast. This salvation comes as we believe or have faith in God that is presented to us in the Bible. In our study of his Word we find out that we must

confess Jesus with our mouths,
repent of our sins,
obey Him in Baptism by immersion, and
live the Christian Life described in the Bible.

These things are not works but acts of obedience presented to us in scripture. Why must I do these things? Because I love God and desire to please Him in what He has instructed us to do if we love Him. In doing so, we can be assured of our salvation as we continue to walk with Him each day.
